There is always a danger in losing momentum when delegates return to their own countries after a conference which they felt at the time had felt represented a real movement for change.
AMEC is determined not to let that happen after the 2nd European Summit on Measurement in Barcelona in June. Our US Agency Research Leaders Group chaired by David Rockland has now put a process in place to derive the answers to two questions based on the Barcelona Principles agreed at the Summit:
1) What are the “validated metrics” to replace AVEs?
2) How do you get started in measuring social media, and what are the definitions of relevant metrics?
Each question will be addressed by a taskforce from the AMEC group, with Tim Marklein of Weber Shandwick chairing taskforce #1 and Ruth Pestana from Hill & Knowlton to chair taskforce #2 which will meet in August. The group will meet as a whole on September 16 in New York and finalize these positions. The plan is to maintain the momentum of AMEC leadership by taking the proposals to the North American Summit organised by the Institute for Public Relations and to be held in New Hampshire in October.
Everyone is determined to keep their foot down on the accelerator of change.
